Transition to Offsite Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Screening
In alignment with the National Nuclear Security Administration’s safety and security priorities, Site Medical is transitioning to an offsite pre-employment drug and alcohol testing process for all SRS personnel including subcontractors, craft, and staff augmentation employees, effective June 26, 2026.
This change ensures a negative screening is confirmed prior to issuing badges for Site access. This transition aims to strengthen Site security by ensuring compliance before badging, while also reducing badge office visits and streamlining onboarding — saving time, lowering costs, and improving overall hiring efficiency.
Key Changes and Requirements
Testing Requirement: All prospective new hires must complete a drug and alcohol test (DAT) at least seven (7) business days prior to their anticipated start date. Testing must yield a negative result before the badging process can begin. A screening can be conducted up to 90 days prior to their start date (e.g., if the scheduled start date is the week of June 29, testing should occur the week of June 15 at a minimum).
Testing Locations
Local Testing:
Aiken Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Occupational Health and Wellness
440 Society Hill Drive, Suite 204, Aiken, SC 29803 (Village at Woodside)
Local candidates will complete a consent waiver onsite at ARMC.
Non-Local Testing:
Non-local DAT processing will remain available for individuals located more than two hours from SRS. Please note that non-local testing takes approximately one week longer than local testing.
